Blog Post #16 - Initial Storyboard

 In this post, I plan to give a general, current visual representation and sequencing for my project, and the scenes within it. These scenes include Fern and Ed speaking in the detective's office, Fern and Ed exiting the detectives office, Fern and Ed entering the car and driving in it, Fern and Ed appearing at the crime scene with the dead body, and possibly a scene featuring the killer. 

This picture is a representation of the first scene, featuring an over-the-shoulder shot behind Ed, facing Fern reading the "S.K.B.D. News"

This picture is a representation of the second scene, showing Ed and Fern leaving the office, through a two-shot, with Fern in the background, and Ed in the midground, picking up keys in the foreground. I chose this configuration to put emphasis on the keys. 

 

These pictures are a representation of the fourth scene, which starts with an action cut from the last seen, showing Ed and Fern leaving the office driveway, through a wide shot. This then transitions into a timelapse from inside the back right window of the car, using jump cuts. The jump cuts are used here to show the passing of time, and to compress the amount of time this scene takes. 



This picture is a representation of the fifth scene, which starts at the end of the rapid jump cuts, and has the camera move outside. This scene then switches to an over-the-shoulder two shot of the duo looking at the dead body, covered in (fake) blood, and covered by a hat. This two shot will show the body language of the two, with Fern having a more light-hearted comedic expression, and Ed having a shocked expression. 

Conclusion


To conclude, this plan will help me to better remember my ideas, and to help develop and track them, in order to better write about them. I will continue planning my project, and will begin production in the next few weeks.

 While me and my actors were getting ready to start recording, we ran into multiple unexpected problems. The scene I will be discussing in this post is the scene of the security camera footage, which features the Killer killing Lacey's Child, the Killer played by me, and the child by Ethan. The script for this scene has the killer approaching the child, and stabbing him, with (fake) blood flying out. Blog Post #1 - Final Project Idea

Concept for the Film My idea for my final project is a fictional crime film, mainly set in a suburban neighborhood. The idea of the film is that there is a black-hooded killer, the antagonist being seen around this neighborhood, and whenever anyone sees this killer, they disappear. The protagonists will be the detectives, Ed and Fern, who are friends but argue with each other often, who have been sent out to figure out the origins of the killer. The names for these characters were influenced by names of people i know, one of which being myself.  My Idea For the Opening The opening scene of the movie will be the two detectives in the office leaving their office. I’m unsure about the specifics at this point in time, but I have an idea of a close-up of the detectives' hands picking up car keys and their coats.
