Blog Post #6 - Preliminary Exercise

This picture is supposed to depict two friends having fun and connecting with each-other during school. I made the decision to use an over-the-shoulder shot to put the viewer in the kid with the black hair's (Brayden) point-of-view. The actor's bodily expression was chosen to exemplify the high-energy and positive emotion of talking with friends in a positive environment. The casual clothing was chosen to convince the audience of the presence of a school-like environment, which we were in but may not be obvious without this detail.  The warm lighting of the scene was to convince the audience of a feeling of past memories, as is used in many different forms of media.



This picture represents a struggling student, which many young people may relate to. The papers help to show the audience that the person represented in this picture is a student, and the hunched over, face down, hand on neck helps to show that he is stressed. The pencil on the paper helps to show the audience that the thing he is stressed over is the work he is currently doing. The laptop, book, and packet shows the audience that he is overloaded with multiple assignments, that further stresses him out. The fact that the pencil is in the person's left hand helps to represent left-handed people, making it relatable to a wider, audience. 


This picture represents a gloomy and sad day, represented by the dark overhead clouds, indicative of a storm about to pass. Storms are generally considered to be a sign of uncertainty, bad luck, and sadness. The low-angle of the storm helps to show the overreaching presence of the storm, engulfing everything it is over. The dull, darker lighting of the scene helps to further sell to the audience the sadness of the picture. The environment of the highway further emphasizes this gloomy feeling, being surrounded by dull-colored vehicles, without any personality or excitement.



This picture shows a dark and boring day, giving the viewer a sense of calmness and boredom. The darker, cooler lighting is used to further emphasize this relaxing feeling. The hills on the road symbolize not being able to see what is ahead. The eye-level position of the shot implies to the audience that the picture was taken in the point of view of a person on the road, most likely walking. Being near the middle of the road could be taken as to represent choosing two different sides of something, which correlates to the previous statement; not being able to see what is ahead.

Blog Post #41 - Obstacles Recording the Security Camera Scene

 While me and my actors were getting ready to start recording, we ran into multiple unexpected problems. The scene I will be discussing in this post is the scene of the security camera footage, which features the Killer killing Lacey's Child, the Killer played by me, and the child by Ethan. The script for this scene has the killer approaching the child, and stabbing him, with (fake) blood flying out. The biggest obstacle we ran into was the  weather . We noticed a few hours before, the sky had gotten gloomy, grey, and cloudy, but I dismissed it, being eager to start production. Blog Post #1 - Final Project Idea

Concept for the Film My idea for my final project is a fictional crime film, mainly set in a suburban neighborhood. The idea of the film is that there is a black-hooded killer, the antagonist being seen around this neighborhood, and whenever anyone sees this killer, they disappear. The protagonists will be the detectives, Ed and Fern, who are friends but argue with each other often, who have been sent out to figure out the origins of the killer. The names for these characters were influenced by names of people i know, one of which being myself.  My Idea For the Opening The opening scene of the movie will be the two detectives in the office leaving their office. I’m unsure about the specifics at this point in time, but I have an idea of a close-up of the detectives' hands picking up car keys and their coats.
