Blog Post #18 - Obstacles

Obstacles are roadblocks in trying to achieve something. Obstacles can come in many forms— emotional, physical, moral, or even logical. A form of emotional obstacle would be something such as the loss of a loved one. A physical obstacle would be well, a roadblock, which doesn't allow you to pass. A moral roadblock could be a religious value for example, which could prevent you from doing certain things. A logical roadblock could be something such as not knowing how to do a math problem.

In my case, an obstacle is something that prohibits, delays, or prevents me from progressing in my project. A major obstacle I have faced is coming up with new topics and ideas to write about, and research for my blog posts. A solution I have come up with while trying to push through and overcome this obstacle is to go through my classwork and look for vocabulary terms and topics to write about.

An example of this I have taken inspiration from is a project I completed a few months ago— as seen below— about foley techniques, which I subsequently wrote about in my 8th blog post.

Another solution I have considered is using generative AI— such as Deepseek and ChatGPT— to come up with ideas, but when I tried this, it did not come up with any ideas that I thought would be suitable to write about. Although, they have been good for finding sources.

My main solution has been to look through vocabulary sheets for this class, as my teacher has provided, to come up with ideas to write about. An example of this is my 16th and 17th blog posts, about Storyboards and Low-key lighting respectively.

Using these strategies over the past week or so has greatly improved my efficiency, and I will continue to use, and develop these strategies of mine to progress in my blogs/project. I plan to be done with planning within the next week or so to move into the production phase of my project.
