Blog Post #22 - Pacing Update

Pacing is a major part of any film, and that includes even my 2 minute project. As i discussed in my previous post, pacing can make or break a film. In my "Blog Post #20 - Cinematography" Video I noticed that the scene seemed to be going too fast, and needed to be reworked to be slower and more detailed.

I feel that the beginning scene of the video needs to be extended, and show multiple shots around his space, showing his actions. Although he isn't doing anything besides drinking coffee at the moment, this can be reflected in the script to show Fern doing something such as fidgeting with a pen.

I also feel that Fern and Ed's conversation needs to be extended, and that the gag at the end of the project either needs to be cut, or reworked to look better or be more humorous. I think that these adjustments will skyrocket the amount of time allocated to this scene, and diminish the presence of other scenes, whether completely or not.

This will result in one or more scenes being completely cut from my script and storyboard, to account for a slower pacing. I'm taking inspiration for my pacing from the opening sequence of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, where the first few minutes all take place in one place, before transitioning to a title card.

Therefor, in congruence with my research while writing my previous post, I must rework my script along with my storyboard to accommodate my new vision and ideas. I will complete these two actions in further posts throughout this week.
