Blog Post #39 - Final Script (3rd Revision)

The script for my project, Beneath the Hood, is something I have revised two times now, now a third before I start to film. In my original script, it started with Fern receiving two sets of documents from Ed, and then two more scenes followed one at the crime scene, and another in a random dark room. Those two ideas had to be scrapped due to a lack of time; even without this time restraint, my budget wouldn't allow it. 


In the second revision of my script, Ed comes into the room speaking on a mother reporting a murder at the Lacey Manor and only handing Fern one set of documents, and then handing him a tablet with security camera footage. This is similar to my final script but with some changes. This script revision still includes the scene of the crime scene. although I think this was an error on my part, as by this time I had already scrapped this scene. This script was also flawed, due to the fact I never wrote in the scene with the security camera footage, although I had mentioned it.


In this final revision of my script, many changes were made, some small, some major. A major change was the removal of the crime scene, and the addition of the security camera footage, where the Killer kills Lacey's Child. This was done to give the detectives and audience some information on the Killer, while still keeping it vague. 


This revision to the script also starts with Fern and Ed having some background information on the Killer, to make him seem like more of a looming, already present threat in the narrative, making their mission seem more grandiose. It also includes a small scene where Ed flips his fedora, making it seem more lighthearted, also building their character. This script also details the step-by-step details of the security camera footage, allowing for a more planned-out shooting process.



In the end, I'm very close to starting production, and hopefully with these revisions to the script it will be fast, and easy for me to start, and eventually wrap up. I hope to be done with production in the next week, to 2 weeks, and to start in the next 2 days. The storyboard for my project still largely stays the same though, as the order stays the same.

 While me and my actors were getting ready to start recording, we ran into multiple unexpected problems. The scene I will be discussing in this post is the scene of the security camera footage, which features the Killer killing Lacey's Child, the Killer played by me, and the child by Ethan. The script for this scene has the killer approaching the child, and stabbing him, with (fake) blood flying out. Blog Post #16 - Initial Storyboard

 In this post, I plan to give a general, current visual representation and sequencing for my project, and the scenes within it. These scenes include Fern and Ed speaking in the detective's office, Fern and Ed exiting the detectives office, Fern and Ed entering the car and driving in it, Fern and Ed appearing at the crime scene with the dead body, and possibly a scene featuring the killer.  This picture is a representation of the first scene, featuring an over-the-shoulder shot behind Ed, facing Fern reading the "S.K.B.D.
